Cafe Racer Projects

Honda CB250K4 Production Racer.
This machine was built to look like the Production race bike of the late '60's & early '70's era. The machine was built to pay tribute to the amazing victories at the Isle of Man TT in the Production 250 races in 1971 & 1972.
The Honda CB250 was raced to victory in the 1971 TT by Bill Smith at an amazing average speed of 84.14mph for the race. The race time was 1h 47m 43.6s and showed the great reliability and performance of such a superb machine.
The following year in the 1972 Production 250 TT race the Honda CB250 came home first yet again. This time the rider steering the little Honda to victory was the great John Williams with a winning race time of 1h 46m 8.8s. His race average speed was an incredible 85.32mph once again demonstrating his great skills and Honda's reliability from the CB250.
The machine built by D&M Engineering is fitted with a completely standard engine and is road registered. Built to ride and enjoy just the way Honda intended.

This recently completed machine has been built to compete in the 2012 Manx Grand Prix.
The lines of the Honda CB500-4 race machine have been based on the famous RC181 Honda-4.
The Honda RC181 was used in some epic race battles of the late '60's era of Grand Prix racing.
One of the most famous battles ever seen on the Isle of Man was the Golden Jubilee Senior TTof 1967.
The Honda RC181 was victorious and possibly the most talked about win of all time. It was a true
battle of men and machines over the most famous road race circuit in the world.
D & M Engineering have carried out alot of work and converted this modest production road machine
into a Classic Honda 4 cylinder racer.
The engine and chassis have received a great deal of
attention to turn the machine into a classic race bike
.

  Honda  RC162 Hailwood Replica 250/4

The Honda 250/4 project is being built to look similar to the famous Honda RC162 250 four racer of the 60’s. The project is under construction at the D&M workshop.

The frame has been modified to take the Honda CBR250RR engine. Unbelievably these engines have a red line of 19,000 rpm in standard road trim. The following pictures show the projects progress and high light some of the work carried out on the project.
