'CRMC Cadwell Park Race Of The Year 2010'


 

 American rider Peter Newell had a mixed end to his 2010 season. Peter, who has had his first season of coming over to the UK to race his TAB Honda CB350 at selected CRMC and Classic events. His season had been steadily improving race by race as Peter settled into the UK circuit and the good old British weather. His final trip of the season was to take in a track day on the Wednesday and the classic bike track day on the Friday before the final CRMC meeting at the Cadwell Park circuit.

All had been going to plan on the Wednesday track day and things were improving further on the Friday track day as Peter got to grips with the technical Cadwell Park circuit. On the final session on Friday as Peter was starting to push harder he fell victim to the notorious Goose Neck. The spill hardly damaged the machine but Peter fell awkward and as a result suffered injuries that meant a trip and an over night stay in hospital. His injuries meant that he was unable to compete in the final race meeting of the year with the CRMC club.  

Obviously Peter was gutted. This was a bitter pill to swallow and was hardly just reward for all of his effort and commitment shown during 2010. Peter's generous nature meant the slightly scuffed TAB Honda CB350 was offered to CRMC regular Richard Parker.  

Peter had a sweeter pill to swallow on Saturday as Richard Parker (after only a hand full of practise laps) went out and won the first 350 twins race on the D&M prepared machine. Peter had only just arrived back at the circuit from his over night stay in hospital to witness his machine take victory

On Sunday things got even better (although Peter was in even more pain) as Richard Parker went out and won the 350 Twins Race of the Year in convincing style. Later in the day Richard Parker went on to get yet another rostrum finish with a fine 3rd place in the Colin Breeze Memorial Race.  

After a bitter sweet end to Peter Newell's 2010 campaign he will be back in 2011 to ride his D&M Engineering prepared TAB Honda CB350K4 racer. At this point it is only right to acknowledge the effort and work put into the weekend by Nigel Parker of NRP exhausts. It was his hard work that made sure the bike was race fit and ready to go.
